Message from Pastor Brandi

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It is a privilege to write to you again as we look forward to another year of doing God's kingdom work together. I continue to feel incredibly blessed and honored to be your pastor as God leads us into a new season of life and ministry. Today, I am writing on behalf of the stewardship committee, as this is the time of the year when we each have the opportunity to pledge our support through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to Ada First UMC for the coming year.

Nearly two years ago now, we experienced a seismic shift in our world and lives. Even though we have regained some sense of normalcy, little is exactly as it was pre-Covid. Nonetheless, we have adapted, moved forward, and, in so many ways, we have grown into a new identity as Christ's body. In 2020, we had to shift on a dime... not an easy task for a church! When the whole world made the move to a more "online" format, we learned how to become a "hybrid church" without losing our commitment to building relationships and serving our neighbor. Though we all have learned to adapt to this new way of life, our core identity and mission as Christians and as a church have not changed, including our understanding of stewardship.

For Christians, stewardship is a way of life, something we live out every single day. Through our stewardship, we are the heart, spirit, and hands of God, reaching out in love to our world. This year, as we renew ourselves to the work of Christ and the church, it is my prayer that we will remember and recognize stewardship as an everyday commitment to serving God and others through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

Though stewardship is a value that we practice year-round, each fall we undertake a special emphasis on stewardship in which we invite all participants in the life of the church to consider how they will support God's mission through our congregation in the coming year. During the stewardship emphasis, members and friends of the church are invited to pray about how they will give to the ministries of the church through their gifts, tithes, and service during the coming year. Not only does this help our leaders make important financial, programing, and mission plans for the church's ministry, but it also helps each of us put God first in all aspects of our lives

I am looking forward to another year of serving God and doing ministry together as the Ada First United Methodist Church.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Brandi Rigsby
