ReStore Community Center was started in 2006 through Ada First United Methodist Church. Today, ReStore is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides assistance for low-income individuals through federal assistance programs, clothing ministry, emergency food, financial assistance, and educational programming. ReStore is also a gathering place for the community and serves a free community meal every Tuesday from 4-6pm. A community luncheon is held MWRF from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ada’s only thrift store is located at ReStore and is open to the public during open hours. Clothing and household items are sold at discounted price. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
Ada Food Pantry
The Ada Food Pantry provides a two to three day supply of food to local people in need. An average of 75 - 150 people, or 40 – 55 households, receive aid each month. Pantry use in 2017 has been lower than 2016, which was lower than 2015. This is good news! The Pantry is happy to help as many as it can, but it's best if fewer people need the Pantry's services.
All donations to the Pantry are welcome, and can be delivered during the Pantry’s open hours. Jam, applesauce, canned pasta, and baked beans are popular and tend to run low quickly. The Pantry also distributes hygiene products, diapers, and household cleaners, and welcomes those items as well.
The Ada Food Pantry is housed in the basement of First Presbyterian Church of Ada at 201 S. Main Street. To learn more, visit their website.
