Message from Pastor Brandi

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Stewardship is a matter of action, intentions, and heart. One way to describe it is the grateful outpouring of gifts to others, showing Generosity out of our love for God. Generosity is much more than what we do with our money. We are called to be kind and generous to one another. Generous Living is a call to action to each of us who follow Jesus. He showed us the way to live generously: by welcoming the outcast, dining with the poor and healing the sick, teaching, forgiving, and ultimately by giving His life so that all might have life abundant.

In 2020 our church is seeking to live as generous stewards of God’s gifts by reaching up to God and reaching out to our neighbors. During the next few weeks, we invite you to prayerfully consider how you might seek to live more generously through your prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.

On Sunday, November 17th, we will complete our annual stewardship campaign by returning our completed 2020 Commitment Cards at the Sunday morning service. You can also mail your card to the church office to the attention of the Financial Secretary, Kathy Gulbis. In addition, there is now an electronic version of this commitment card, which you can fill out online (below), and it will be transmitted directly to the Financial Secretary.

Jesus said, "I come so that all may have life, and have it abundantly." Generosity brings us closer to that abundant life. It is our hope and prayer that in this stewardship season we will come to know God’s extravagant love and grace more deeply and renew our call to spread that love and grace more generously.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Brandi Rigsby

2020 Proposed Budget

The proposed budget for 2019 was $307,458. The budget is spread across five major ministry areas:

  • Worship: The most important activity at Ada First United Methodist Church is worship.

  • Youth and children’s ministry: Bible stories are taught in Children’s Church. Sunday morning classes and youth groups help pre-teens and teens grow in faith.

  • Outreach: District and Conference apportionments support the global United Methodist Church in training pastors, planting churches, advocating for justice, and mission involvement. The Beatitudes Community Center (formerly ReStore) is supported by our congregation.

  • Maintenance: Funds are used to maintain and insure the church building and property.

  • Curriculum: Materials, supplies, and Bible studies for all ages.

God owns everything, and we have the opportunity to manage it for Him.
The responsible management of these God-given resources is called stewardship.

“… God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work” (2 Cor. 9:8).

Please prayerfully consider how God is leading you to grow in 2020 as you support the work of Ada First United Methodist Church.
